Top 5 Tips for a successful Family Photos

Tip #1

Set out all your clothes & shoes for the session the night before. Make sure all individuals have tried on ALL the items. There have been a few sessions where shoes didn't fit and Mom was frustrated & disappointed. If things needs to be steamed and ironed; do it the night before so EVERYTHING is ready to go the day of our session.

Tip #2

Leave your cell phone, sunglasses and Apple watch/ Fitbit in your car. Nothing will date your photos faster than old technology. There can be glare off the watches that distort colors and are hard to edit out. Bulging pockets from sunglasses & phones are not cute either. You are welcome to bring sunglasses if you want a specific photo with the sunglasses; I just did a recent one with grandparents that turned pretty darn cute. An alternative if you just can't leave these items in the car, is to bring a purse or bag you don't mind getting dirty when set on the ground.

Tip #3

Let me know if you are wearing transitional lens in your glasses. The glare of glasses can be tricky and transitional lens up the ante. We may do some photos with & without glasses depending on lighting to make sure we capture the best you.

Tip #4

Make sure everyone is well fed & rested. Hangry is never a good look and can make a session more intense than it needs to be...bring snacks, bring treats and if needed have a cocktail beforehand.

Tip #5

Relax & have fun! Getting photos taken can be stressful. But I promise, I have seen it all and the more relaxed you are the more cooperative kids, husbands, co-workers and animals tend to be. We will move fast and get some great shots!
