Sunflower Session Tips
tip #1 SHOES MATTER
Wear the appropriate shoes.
The session will be in a field. A recently plowed field. There are large clumps of dirt that you (and your family) will be walking & potentially running through. I would not recommend wearing new shoes, canvas shoes, shoes that easily get dirty, high heels, or wedges. The ground will not be flat and last year wearing slip-on tennis shoes, I got dirt in my shoes. It wasn't big deal but your shoes are going to get dirty. My daughter wore plastic jellies, and they were a great choice.
P.S. Very few of last year's images show anyone's shoes.
tip #2 early is on time
You need to arrive 30 minutes before your time slot.
Mini sessions are only 15 minutes long and I pack them with as many poses as I can get. If you arrive early, it will allow you to find me in the field. (There are multiple sections to the field and at sunset their will be multiple clients per photographer per field section.) Don't worry, I will text you the field section on the day.
It usually takes some extra time to find the field section, get out of the car, adjust yourself (and your family) and walk out into the field. We are chasing the sun, so your time slot will be strict. If you arrive late (or on time), you will only get the remainder of your time and not the full 15 minutes. I hate that for you so leave your house earlier than you think you need to... Buckeye is pretty far out.
tip #3 leave your stuff in the car
Please leave your keys, sunglasses, phones, and watches in the car.
Leave as much as you can in the car. There is nothing worse than bulging pockets or I-watches that completely date a photo.
And if you accidently lose something, I don't know if we would be able to find it in the dirt.
I am hoping to set up a table with a basket so if you need to leave something closer to where are that there is a place to do so.
If you want to bring props, Let's do it! Just give me a heads up before hand; I have a flow that I will alter to make sure we get the props included.
TIP #4 have fun
Don't stress.
Kids (and sometimes husbands) are going to misbehave. Not a big deal. If you remain carefree and make this fun for you (and your family); it will come across in your images. And sometimes, the more shenanigans the better! The sunflowers are so cool and mesmerizing. You will be witness to the power of nature in way I can't really describe.
We do alot of play & laughing in mini sessions! You will feel pretty awkward and right about the time you feel good, the session will be over.
I also bring sugar free lollipops for the kiddos, so give me a heads up if you are not ok with treats.
