The things your photographer wants you to know before a family session.
what should we wear for the session?
Choose outfits that complement each other without being too matchy. Neutral colors or soft pastels often work well, and avoid busy patterns or logos. Aim for a coordinated look that reflects your family’s style.
how long will the session last?
A typical family portrait session usually lasts between 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the number of people and the complexity of the shoot. If we have more than 10 people, I will add time to session to make sure we have enough time.
WHAT HAPPENS IF IT RAINS OR WE NEED TO RESCHEDULE?
If the session is outdoors and it rains, we can reschedule for another day. During Monsoon season, I will call it 2 hours before our session especially, if there is lightening. However, if you don't mind some light rain, neither do I (and the rain can create some really dynamic images.)
If you need to reschedule for any other reason, please let us know as soon as possible to find a new date. We do allow one reschedule before there is a fee. There is no reschedule or refund of minis (expect for acts of god) however, you can apply the balance to a simple session.
Can we include pets in the photos?
Yes, pets can be included in the photos! Just let us know in advance so we can plan accordingly and ensure that the session goes smoothly. Check out my tips for the pet sessions!
How many photos will we receive?
The number of photos you receive can vary based on the session and package you choose. Generally, you’ll get a set number of high-quality edited images.
What should we bring to the session?
Bring any props or personal items that you’d like to include in the photos. Also, consider bringing snacks, drinks, or toys for younger children to keep them engage
How far in advance should we book?
It’s best to book your session 6 weeks in advance to ensure availability and to give us time to plan the details. If you want a studio session, I would recommend 8-10 weeks so we can confirm your session time with the studio. If you need a fall session, AUGUST is the best time to book for October - December Dates.
Are there any additional fees for extra prints or digital images?
YES. You can purchase additional images for $25 a piece or a full gallery for $150. I do have a print shop that allows you to purchase all sizes at a high quality.
Do you offer professional retouching?
Heck Yes! Professional retouching is included to enhance the quality of the images. This may involve skin correction and blemish removal. I also try to hide bra straps & indecent clothing mishaps. Extensive photoshop to alter your body is an additional fee per image.
When will we see the proofs and receive our photos?
Images are typically available within 2 weeks after the session. Once you’ve selected your favorites, the final edited photos will be delivered in digital format, depending on your package.
